Description
This short course includes four weeks of lessons for seven subjects; Years 1 -6. The lessons briefly outline concepts you are able to do step-by-step as written, or you can change and extend the ideas.
Quickstart Curriculum: the first four weeks is all about getting you started quickly.
If you have decided to start homeschooling in a hurry, these lessons give you simple ideas for the first few weeks, without having to wait while you search and secure commercially produced materials. The lessons are designed to give you ideas to work with and adjust to suit your family. Alternatively, if you would like a change from your normal curriculum, these lessons could offer you a four week, fun season of hands-on, practical activities.
There are lessons for seven Australian Curriculum subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), HPE (Health and Physical Education), The Arts and Technologies. Languages is very specific to the language chosen and so is not included here.
The curriculum is internet free, device free and printer free. What do I mean by that? Well, you don’t need internet, you won’t need a device and there is no printing necessary. However, you can include these where you feel they would best fit. A simple exercise book and paper will be sufficient for children to record their work.
The activities are hands-on and practical. Science, Technologies and HASS take your child into the family vegetable or flower garden. The children will be measuring in the backyard as they investigate length. They will be drawing trees and flowers in the local park and observing the growth of plants. Art and English work together to see your child imagine, write and illustrate their very own story and there are number work and counting concepts included as part of Mathematics. Finally, HPE gets you all out into the swimming pool after a hard day’s work.
All the subjects are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and include one or two concepts from the grade level learning for the year. See Curriculum Overview, for a brief summary of the four week curriculum.
As you go through the course, take what you need, leave what you don’t. If an idea resonates with you, feel free to use it. If it’s not the right fit for your family, let it go. There’s no pressure. Just do one subject if you like or take on all seven, it’s up to you.
I trust this course is a blessing to you. Feel free to connect if you have any questions or would like clarification with any section.
